Riga International Airport To Undergo Further Expansions
The Riga International Airport in Latvia is set to undergo further expansions. During the last few years, a new terminal in the airport has been constructed, but is still not enough to cope with the growing number of travellers. Riga is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe, and has seen a large increase in passengers.
A new plan has been submitted which includes the construction of a bigger terminal in the current car park. The first stage of the development includes the expansion of the right wing of the airport and will create an additional 150,000 square metres of space. This expansion aims to be able cater for 12 million passengers per year. The first stage of the expansion is set to be completed in 2011 and is currently underway. The extension of the airport’s runway is already under construction and will be completed this autumn.
The project is set to be one of the largest development schemes in the country, and the airport director’s are optimistic in the project. They foresee that the Riga Airport will be able to offer a range of great services, as well as handle an increase in passengers. Investors are encouraged to take part in the development of the airport, which will facilitate travel to Latvia.
The development of the Riga International Airport is underway and will improve the airport’s services and facilities. Visitors and real estate investors are impressed with the country’s efforts to keep on top of passenger demand. The number of passengers flying into the Riga Airport has increased significantly in the last few years, and is expected to increase even more in the next few years.
