Siberian Tower
Fosters and Partners have designed a radical 280 metre tall green tower built overlooking the Russian city of Khanty Mansyisk. This mixed use development is an impressive sight and features a crystalline design set high on a hilltop appearing like a sparkling diamond in the distance.
The dynamic tower is built with sustainability in mind, and the diamond-shaped design allows maximisation of daylight during the harsh winter months. The design will make full use of solar power throughout the year, and will reduce the need for artificial heating and lighting. The tower is promoting sustainability throughout and is set in a wooded area amidst a serene environment. The development is being built around the nature leaving much of it in its natural state.
The tower is a mixed use development and will be a mix of residential space, offices, retail centres and leisure activities. The restaurant at the top of the tower will offer panoramic views of the surroundings. The development will be a sanctuary for many of the Siberian residents during the cold winter months.
